The Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausf.E, widely known as the Tiger I, was developed in response to the unexpectedly powerful Soviet armour encountered early in the Axis invasion of the Soviet Union. The T-34 and KV-1 revealed the need for a heavy, well-protected and stronger German tank. The Tiger I became the first vehicle to mount the famous 88 mm gun in its version specifically designed for armoured combat vehicles, proven effective in its earlier Flak role against both air and ground targets.
Seeing combat on every German front, the Tiger I was typically deployed in independent tank battalions, where it quickly built a fearsome reputation. However, it was overly complex, expensive and time-consuming to produce. Between August 1942 and August 1944, only 1,347 units were manufactured, adding to its legendary status. This model kit allows you to bring that historic presence directly onto your workbench.
