1:35 Dragon 6219 Sd.Kfz.251/16 Ausf.D Flammpanzerwagen WWII - German Flamethrower Half-Track Plastic Model kit
With the 1:35 Dragon 6219 Sd.Kfz.251/16 Ausf.D Flammpanzerwagen, you can build a distinctive flamethrower variant of the well-known German Sd.Kfz.251 half-track from World War II. The Sd.Kfz.251/16 stood out through its twin flamethrowers, making it an interesting subject for your collection of German WWII vehicles, military models or a historical diorama.
The Sd.Kfz.251 was developed as a new and relatively simple half-track transport for the German armed forces and was based on the heavy Sd.Kfz.11 tractor. Changes included a new fuel tank and redesigned positioning of the steering and exhaust system. The first prototypes appeared in 1935, and approximately 14,500 vehicles were produced between 1939 and 1945. Power came from a six-cylinder Maybach HL 42 TURKM engine producing 100 hp.
During production, the basic Ausf. A, B, C and D versions appeared, eventually accompanied by more than twenty different variants. These included the Sd.Kfz.251/1 with MG34 or MG42 machine guns and capacity for up to ten landing troops, the 251/2 with an 80mm mortar, the 251/3 communications and radio vehicle, the 251/9 Stummel with a short-barrelled 75mm StuK 37 gun and the 251/20 UHU with an infrared searchlight for night operations. The Sd.Kfz.251/16 represented by this kit carried two flamethrowers. Sd.Kfz.251 vehicles served primarily with armoured divisions and Panzergrenadier units across virtually all major fronts of World War II.
