Description

Build a distinctive post-war Israeli tank with the 1:35 Rye Field Model 5161 M-50 Sherman Early Pattern Degem Aleph / Degem Beth. This plastic model kit lets you choose between two early versions of the Israeli M50 Sherman and provides different components for the running gear, drivetrain and tracks. Workable individual track links and running gear also give you plenty of possibilities for creating a convincing finished model.

The M50 Sherman was developed in the mid-1950s as Israel sought to make its existing M4 Sherman tanks more competitive against increasingly modern opponents. Through cooperation with France, the Sherman received the powerful French 75 mm CN 75-50 gun from the AMX-13, which was based on the German Panther KwK 42 gun. The early Degem Aleph was primarily based on the M4A4 and retained the VVSS suspension and Continental R975 petrol engine. From 1960, the improved Degem Beth appeared with features including a 460 hp Cummins VT8-460 diesel engine and wider tracks for improved reliability and off-road performance.

The M50 Sherman saw action during the 1956 Sinai Campaign and the 1967 Six-Day War and remained in Israeli service into the 1970s thanks to its robustness, ease of maintenance and effective firepower. Rye Field Model 5161 lets you choose which early version to recreate, with alternative gearbox housings, rear armour, drive sprockets, support rollers and track types included. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; paint and glue are not included. At Most-Models.com, you benefit from fast delivery and excellent customer service.
