Build a distinctive American medium tank from the Second World War with the 1:35 Takom 2087 M3 Lee Late. The M3 Lee, also known as the Grant by the British, was developed as an interim design after the 1940 campaign in France showed that the existing M2 no longer met battlefield requirements. While awaiting the M4 Sherman, the M3 was intended to provide an answer to German tanks such as the Pz.Kpfw III and Pz.Kpfw IV.

The first prototypes appeared in 1941, and approximately 6,300 examples of all versions were produced between 1941 and 1942. At its introduction, the M3 combined good armour, high reliability and powerful armament with a notably tall silhouette. Its armament consisted of a 75 mm M2 or M3 gun in the hull, a 37 mm M5 or M6 gun in the turret and two or three 7.62 mm Browning M1919 machine guns. Depending on the version, power came from a 340 hp Continental R-975 EC2 or two General Motors 6-71 engines producing a combined 375 hp.

From 1943 onwards, the M3 was gradually withdrawn from frontline units in favour of the M4 Sherman, partly because of its limited obstacle-crossing ability, difficult concealment caused by its tall silhouette and limited potential for modernisation. It nevertheless continued to serve with the Red Army in secondary combat sectors and with American forces in the Pacific.
