1:35 Trumpeter 00362 Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. D/E Fahrgestell WWII – German Tank Chassis Plastic Model kit
The 1:35 Trumpeter 00362 Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. D/E Fahrgestell is a detailed plastic model kit of a German WWII tank chassis closely connected to the Munitionsschlepper Pz.Kpfw. IV. This Static Armor model is a strong choice for modellers looking for a distinctive German tracked vehicle, a support vehicle for heavy artillery or a realistic addition to a Karl Gerät 040/041 diorama.
The Munitionsschlepper Pz.Kpfw. IV was developed as a specialised ammunition vehicle for servicing Karl Gerät 040/041 self-propelled mortars. The first prototypes were built as early as 1939, and small-series production probably began in 1941. The vehicle was based on the Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. D and F1, with the turret and main armament removed and the front section of the hull redesigned. At the rear, above the engine compartment, a container carried 3 to 4 600 mm projectiles, supported by a special crane designed to move these heavy rounds.
According to the input, a total of 13 Munitionsschlepper vehicles were produced on Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. D, E and F chassis taken from the normal Pz.Kpfw. IV production run, as reported in May 1941. There were two vehicles for each of the six Gerät 040 vehicles Nr. I to VI and one for the experimental Gerät Nr. VII. This Trumpeter kit consists of 675 parts and includes metal projectiles, photo-etched parts, film part, hull and tracks.
