A distinctive helicopter fuselage, powerful rocket armament and the unmistakable sound of a legendary American aircraft: the Bell UH-1C Huey Gunship is one of the most recognisable combat helicopters of the Vietnam War. With the ICM 48293 Bell UH-1C Huey Gunship, you can recreate this impressive attack helicopter as a detailed plastic model kit in 1:48 scale. Its robust construction, broad rotor blades and prominent external weapons give the model its characteristic appearance. With extensive detailing, no fewer than 186 parts and three historical decal options, this Huey offers a rewarding project for enthusiasts of military aviation and helicopters from the Vietnam War.

The history of the Bell UH-1 Huey began in the 1950s, when the United States Army required a versatile helicopter for transport, medical evacuation and military support. The original Bell Model 204 prototype made its first flight on 20 October 1956 and led to the development of the HU-1A Iroquois. The aircraft's original designation soon inspired its famous nickname, Huey. In 1962, it was officially redesignated UH-1. During the Vietnam War, the Huey became an essential part of American airmobile operations. The growing need for direct fire support led to the development of the UH-1C Gunship, which began entering operational service in June 1965. This version received a more powerful engine and wider main rotor blades for improved performance and manoeuvrability. Equipped with weapons systems such as the XM21, combining two six-barrel 7.62 mm M134 Miniguns with launch pods for 70 mm rockets, the UH-1C could support ground troops, secure landing zones and conduct night operations. Approximately 750 UH-1C helicopters were produced.

ICM recreates this famous American attack helicopter as a comprehensive plastic model kit in 1:48 scale. The set comprises 186 parts and captures the distinctive construction of the Huey Gunship, including its characteristic cockpit, rotor assembly and external armament. The detailed components offer excellent opportunities for precise painting, authentic military colours and realistic weathering. Of particular interest are the three included decal options, allowing you to recreate different UH-1C helicopters from the Vietnam War. Choose an aircraft from the 189th Assault Helicopter Company Avengers at Pleiku in February 1968, the 334th Assault Helicopter Company Playboys at Bien Hoa in the late 1960s, or the 176th Assault Helicopter Company at Chu Lai in 1971. This makes the Huey an excellent standalone display model or centrepiece for a historical airfield or Vietnam War diorama.
