Description

You want to build an iconic battleship that played a major role across multiple decades of naval warfare. With the 1:700 Trumpeter 06749 USS Iowa BB-61 Battleship, you bring a historically significant and visually striking warship to your workbench. At Most-Models.com you benefit from fast delivery and excellent customer service, allowing you to begin this impressive modelling project right away.

The USS Iowa was launched on August 27, 1942 and entered service in March 1943. To avoid the same fate as the German battleship Tirpitz, the ship conducted its trials in Chesapeake Bay. In 1944 it moved to the Pacific and joined the fleet in several major operations, including the Battles of the Marshall Islands, the Marianas and Leyte Gulf. During the 1950s the Iowa saw action in the Korean War before being moved to reserve status. Reactivated again in the 1980s, the ship suffered a tragic turret explosion in 1989 that claimed the lives of 47 sailors. It received a decommission notice in 1990, was officially removed from the active list in 2006, and now resides within the National Defense Reserve Fleet with plans to become a floating museum.

This plastic model captures the powerful presence of the Iowa with exceptional detail. The hull is molded using multi-directional tooling for accurate shaping, while the deck features a finely rendered wood pattern. A displaying stand is included for showcasing your finished model, and the photo-etched parts add an extra layer of realism and refinement.
