Description

Two of Finland's most famous fighter pilots from the Second World War take centre stage in the Hasegawa 02533 Brewster B-239 Buffalo Finnish Air Force Aces! This plastic model kit in 1:72 scale represents the American-built Brewster B-239, a distinctive fighter aircraft that earned an impressive reputation in Finnish Air Force service. With its short, sturdy fuselage, characteristic wing design and prominent radial engine, the Buffalo has an instantly recognisable appearance. The included decals allow you to choose between aircraft flown by the renowned Finnish pilots Hans Wind and Eino Ilmari Juutilainen. An appealing release for enthusiasts of historical aviation and unusual Second World War aircraft.

The Brewster B-239 was originally developed in the United States as the F2A Buffalo for the US Navy. Finland ordered 44 examples of a modified version, which subsequently served against Soviet aircraft during the Second World War. Although the Buffalo achieved mixed results with other air forces, the lighter Finnish B-239 proved remarkably successful. Finnish pilots appreciated the aircraft for its good manoeuvrability, pleasant handling characteristics and reliability. It played a particularly important role during the Continuation War from 1941 to 1944, becoming one of the best-known fighter aircraft in Finnish Air Force history.

This special Hasegawa release allows you to recreate one of two historically significant aircraft from Finnish Fighter Squadron 24, LeLv 24. The first option is BW-393 'Orange 9', flown by Lieutenant Hans Wind in September 1943. The second is BW-364 'Orange 4', flown by Eino Ilmari Juutilainen, one of Finland's most successful fighter aces. The kit comprises 51 parts and includes decals for both versions. The distinctive Finnish camouflage colours and individual aircraft markings provide excellent opportunities for an historically accurate finish. Display the completed Buffalo as a standalone model or incorporate it into a diorama depicting a Finnish military airfield during the Second World War.
