The 1:35 Trumpeter 00215 Mörser Karl-Gerät 040/041 WWII is an impressive plastic model kit of a German heavy mortar from the Second World War. The Karl-Gerät was developed as a self-propelled 60 cm siege mortar. The self-propelled version was ordered in June 1937, and the name Karl was used because General Karl Becker of the Artillery was involved in its development. Driving trials were held at Unterluss in May 1940, and the six production vehicles were delivered between November 1940 and August 1941. Later, 54 cm Gerät 041 barrels were ordered to increase the range, allowing the 60 cm and 54 cm barrels to be interchanged as required. The weapon saw service on the Russian Front, including Lemburg, and its best-known action was against Sevastopol in 1942.
